Description
The 1968 Cotton Bowl Classic, part of the 1967 bowl game season, took place on January 1, 1968, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. The #8 Alabama Crimson Tide, coached by Paul “Bear” Bryant took on the Texas A&M Aggies coached by none other than Gene Stallings. Texas A&M won the game 20–16.
Coach Gene Stallings was both a former player and assistant coach under Bryant and was carried off the field to celebrate the victory by Bryant himself!!
It was the happiest Bear had ever been after a loss, as his protege’ proved his might with a victory over his one time mentor!
What a great photo celebrating this moment.
